IN QUAKERTOWN MARKET AND COOKING

Brian picked me up (recoger) at 10:00 this morning and he drove to the Quakertown Market, 15 milles far from Lansdale. I took a picture in the butcher (carniceria) but the shopkeeper (tenedero) said to me it was forbidden. Bucause we can be a competitor. No problem I have some pirate pictures.

I bought some groceries (alimentos) like potatoes, green pepper and onions ... just to cook an Tortilla de Patata.

My first TORTILLA DE PATATAS.

After had supper (cen informal), we played cards with Doug and Joan. We has a nice time (lo pasamos bien, porque lo que es el weather esta siendo peor). Today was a windy and cool day. After plaid cards I peeled (pelar) and cut more potatoes because tomorrow I'n going to cook another Tortilla for 6 people. We are going tl leave for a hike at 8:30 ... then I go to bed right now (ahorita mismo..)

My 7 day in the States and I was going to New York. New York, New York.
This is no like say Bilbao, Bilbao.

They have to do it, but we don't need it.
As Marco Polo said: "I have only told you the half that I saw". So, enjoy the pictures ¡¡¡¡¡

They say ssstatxu ov liverti

I'm not flattered(favorecido) in this picture

I PITCHED MY FIRST BALL....

Today, I went to the Indian Valley Public Library, but before I got the Library, I took a stroll (paseo) around the backyard. There were quite few people. There were a lot of children playing baseball. The parents were catching up (hablando, ponerse al día) and watching their children playing.
I sat down among the parents. I was eating peanuts. A while later I stood up and left the yard to get the Library. I saw a father that was piching (lanzar bolas de beisbol) to his son. He taught him how to pitch.
I went past, when a ball run just between my feets... I crouched down (ponerse de cuclillas), I got the ball and just then I heard a voice saying:

- "Hey, guy, please pitch the ball"

I saw him, I turned the ball between my hands, I blew it, I looked at him, I took aim just in the middle of his chest (pecho, masculino) and then I pitched it .... my first ball.

After that, I attended a Book Discussion in the Library. I was there with Deb and 12 peoples more. The book was "The Women" by T.C. Boyle. It was about Frank Lloyd Wright, the famous american architect. I loved his works. It was awesome. And I understood almost all, but I lost the nuances (matices).

And right now, I'm going to bed, I have to rest because tomorrow is a big day, the day that only her knows. She is waiting for me....

WALKING AND TALKING AND TALKING AND TALKING...

Today was my 5th day in America. Today I was almost 12 hours inmerse in american language ... well, sometimes I'm no sure at all if all these people speak english or if I landed in a basque colony and they speak basque with american accent... any way I'm going to learn their language.
A hectic (ajetreado) day.

9:00 - 10:00 - I watched TV. About 200 channels. Some of them are incredible.
10:00 - 11.00 - I talked to Deb.
11:30 - 14:30 - I had lunch in Tamarindo's Restaurant. We were 14 people. We celebrated "el 5 de Mayo".
14:30 - 16:30 - I took a walk in the woods, along a creek with Betsy and Howard and his dog Tasha. At the begining we saw a goose   (ganso), but later we saw a lot of geese (gansoS) ans swan (cisne), a racoon (mapache)... and a car crash.

The flowers were in full bloom (plena floración)
They showed to me a POISONOUS plant, whit 3 leaves ( =hojas, leaf=hoja), and told me:

" LEAVES OF THREE  ..., LET THEM BE"
(Si tiene tres hojas, ni la toques)

If you want know more, click below and see the picture.

16:30 - 18:30 - We raked the leaves and talked to Betsy in her yard
19:00 - 21:00 - I had dinner whit Doug and Joan and planned what to do in Friday........ Surprise, surprise ¡¡

LOST IN THE BOOKS

Today I've gone to Indian Valley Public Library. I've got on the bus 132 to Telford. Today I've paid the bus ticket. When I've arraived to the Library, in the rear part threre was a line. Peopee waiting at the Library open to buy used books. Some of them had a system to read the bars code and know if that book/cd/video is new for him or not. Awesome.
I've been working like volunteer from 9 to 12. They usually lend more than 600 books a day, but some packed days they lend 3,000 books a day. Today, was a normal day.I met Jim. As he said:
"So much books, so little time"

GETTING MY FIRST BUS ....BUT LOSSING MY SPIRITS

My first working day in the States. I'm sorry ... I mean that today is Monday. I hope the Inmigration Police aren't following this blog.
I've gone to the bus stop. I didn't see any Bus Stop sign, so I asked in a shop.
- "Sorry, Where is the Bus Stop to Telford?"...
- "What???", he said.
- "Bus Stop, busstop, bastop, bas, the stop for the bas, Bus, BUS, Obama .... Ok, PLEASE, WHERE TO GO to TEL-FORD?"... I replied
- "Oh, you are so far to walk to Telford ¡¡¡ I think there is a bus_ stop just in front here".

So, that I lifted my spirits (moral) and I went out the shop.
When I got on the bus, I asked to the driver.
- "How much is it the tichet to Kentucky, sorry, to Telford?
- "Two dollars".
- Oh, oh I thought:  "Let me see.... I have only 1 USD bill and coins, 0.25 USD in coins".
- "Ok, Ok give me the bill and ALL your coins".
And, in the end I sit down on the bus and my spirits sit down next to me.

ATTENDING A MEETING AND A CHOIR CONCERT

Flowers for Ana
Sunday. I attended a Meeting. It was an amezing experience. The people get together and think about their lives, families, or whatever they want. They don't need priests and churches to speak to God, everyone can do it themselves. If someone feel something especial that they want to tell the rest of the people, just get up and tell it us. In the end everyone got up and said their name. Deb kindly introduce me to the rest of the people. I met several people. After that one of then gave us a talk about Organic Food (food without pesticide). Do you know that peaches (melocotones) is the fruit or veggie that have most pesticide load.
After that we attended a "Singing City" Choir concert, where Doug signed. The place (a church), the choir and the soprano were superb. They sign Materpieces of the 20th Century (Stravinsky, Schoenberg and Poulec). In the choir there were almost one hundred people, but the most important was Doug ....I have a video bau I can upload it. But I show you the church.
